When it comes to drag racing, you can’t just make sure that all of your nuts and bolts are nice and tight and you have top of the line parts. With all that horsepower and torque, it’s very hard to keep things under control.
Perfect example of this is this Chevy Nova that had a pretty bad launch at the Cecil County Dragway last year. Obviously, the 35 spline axle can’t handle all that torque and it breaks, and then one of the rear tires falls off completely! It’s never a good thing to happen, but at least it happened while test and tune session. I’m guessing the driver is fortunate enough to be spared the embarrassment of this happening while drag racing.
