Meet the 1960 Peterbilt Hot Rod Truck named Piss’d Off Pete

The hot rod truck Piss’d off Pete was built from a 1960 Peterbilt semi truck mode 351. The top of the truck was chopped and the cab of the truck was re-skinned with a new aluminum. Under the hood of the truck there is a Detroit diesel 12v71 about 1972 vintage. It has 2 superchargers and each cylinder is 71 cubic inch. The Detroit Diesel delivers 474 horsepower and 1200 ft. lbs. of torque at 2150 RPM.
This truck is dangerously loud and has an unforgiving attitude. The sound hits about 140 decibels. The truck was sold to a very happy private collector.
Grubb hit celebrity hot rod status at the time when he sold an earlier creation – The Blastolene Special, to the talk show host and car collector Jay Leno. That car has an aM47 Patton tank engine. Leno had to see this hot rod truck Piss’d off Pete, and he together with Grubb went for a spin in it around Burbank in California for an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
The car took about 3,000 hours to build over a span of 5 months. Some of the special features of the Pete are: airplane-like riveted doors, a 60 MPH speedometer, nickel plated boat tail 35 gallon gas tank, aluminum bomber seats with western leather work, and ’38 rear view mirror from Bob Drake and oval swan neck side view mirrors.
